Curated by Isabel Tejeda, El pico al aire is a large-scale pictorial installation that engages with the architecture of the fourth floor of the Palacio de Cibeles. The exhibition brings together more than fifty works, nearly twenty of which have been specifically created for this exhibition.

Presented by CentroCentro as its final in-house exhibition of 2025, El pico al aire marks Javier Garcerá's first institutional solo exhibition in Madrid.

El pico al aire creates an immersive and sensory experience for visitors. Silence, light and colour shape spaces that invite visitors to quiet the noise of both the outside world and their inner selves, seeking stillness and contemplation. One of the works, which resembles an altarpiece—a format the artist has explored on previous occasions—engages with the monumentality of the building's architecture. Through this pictorial installation, the central space evokes an apse, a place of silence.
