J’ÉTAIS LÀ.: Gabriel Folli
Gabriel Folli develops in his work systems of hybridization of processes and images to the point of producing the most composite drawings possible. From Polaroid or digital images transposed into ink drawings, colored pencil or charcoal on a wide range of found and inexpensive materials, to the act of collage, his work consists in establishing a state of the current world, whether geopolitical, economic, socio-cultural or artistic, incorporating references drawn from current events, poetry or cinema, as well as quotations and homages. His exhibition at Galerie Sator will bring together recent works and research axes focused on the study of territories traversed in recent months, a restitution in the form of a monumental installation of drawings, visual and textual essays.
Born in 1990 in Chauny, France, Gabriel Folli holds a Master’s degree in Art, Theories and Artistic Practices from the UFR of Arts in Amiens. He lives and works in Dijon and in the Hauts-de-France region. Among his recent projects are group exhibitions such as “De leur temps (7)” organized by ADIAF at FRAC Grand Large in Dunkirk in 2023, and “Expolabo” at Espace FABRΫK (ABΫ) in Brussels in 2024, as well as solo exhibitions, “Le plaisir au travail,” a presentation of his residency at Château de Servières in Marseille – Laureate of the Saison du Dessin Nord/Sud 2023, “L’atelier du dessinateur” at Galerie La Ferronnerie in Paris the same year, and more recently “Ce qu’il faut sauver” at the Maison des Arts et Loisirs of Laon, in partnership with FRAC Picardie and the Printemps du Dessin 2024. He is currently in the Tremplin DRAC Hauts-de-France residency at the Maison de la Culture of Amiens.
